Tips for doing a daily devotional

Read one book of the Bible at a time

Perhaps start with the Gospel of John or Galatians

Keep a journal in which you write your thoughts and questions in as you read scripture

Use a devotional either through New Hope Web Page or another published devotional
Many Bibles contain devotionals

Let the devotional be additional study - above your reading and study of whatever book you choose to start with

Ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding

Don’t just read the Bible...study it also

Don’t just study the Bible...memorize it also

Carry your Bible at school and read it at lunch or in your free time

Use a highlighter or pen to denote different parts of the portion of scripture you are reading.
The more marked up your Bible and the more worn out it is, the better

Start with just a chapter a day, and read through the chapter,
then break down the smaller portions of text (paragraphs) one at a time

Some Questions to consider:

How often do I really read my Bible?

When can I set aside time every day to study my Bible?

Am I applying what I read to my life?

Do I look to the Bible for all that I need or somewhere else?

Do I have a good Bible that is a word for word translation?
